Announcement for the student exchange program YALLAH – You All Are Hackers
As part of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) program Higher Education Dialogue with the Muslim World the chair of Computer Science & New Media, together with Birzeit University in Palestine (West Bank), organize a joint student exchange program.
In the course of this exchange, ten students of each university will have the chance to participate in two four-week exchange periods. In addition to a regular social and cultural program, the students will conduct projects in small, international teams under the theme of social innovation. The students are encouraged to identify local problems by themselves and find creative, innovative solutions. The means to achieve the project goals are not predetermined. A potential resource can be, e.g., the local Fab Lab in Siegen, which provides methods and tools for digital fabrication, tinkering with ideas and refining the solutions.
The first exchange period – i.e. the trip to Palestine – will take place from end-February to end-March 2017. The second exchange period will probably happen in August. Applications from students of all fields of study can be sent via email to Sarah Rüller, as of now. In your application, please include a brief introduction of yourself, a short motivational letter and a CV (max. 2 pages, english). The documents will be shared among the participants to get to know each other. Application deadline is Wednesday, 25 January 2017, 11:59 pm.
An information meeting will take place on Thursday, 12 January 2017 at 6 pm in room US-F 308. We will provide more detailled information on the project and have a Q&A session to answer your questions. Further information on the project and the application process will be provided soon at http://yallah.exchange.
